Optimist Sailing Boats for Kids

 

What is it?
 
The BIA/ YNSW Optimist program has been developed to promote participation in sailing by putting fleets of Learn To Sail boats into clubs across the State.
 
Objectives:
 
Deliver fleets of 8 Optimist Dinghys to 10 clubs for use in learn to sail programs
To date fleets have been delivered to Concord & Ryde Sailing Club, Port Stephens, Abbotsford 12’ Flying Squadron, St. George Sailing Club, Connels Point Sailing Club and Georges River 16' Sailing Club.

The program is designed to alleviate the shortage of accessible club based boats for introductory participation programs, Learn to sail programs, After School programs and School holiday camps. 
Boats supplied to clubs are provided by the McConaghy Boats.

The program requires sponsor support to be successfully implemented and the BIA, through the Optimist Sailing Boats For Kids program will be offering businesses the opportunity to participate by purchasing one or a number of these vessels. A fleet will be permanently issued to a registered sailing club every time 8 vessels are sponsored. 

Whilst the normal process is forthe BIA to find sponsors for each boat, you can fast track this process by going to sponsors in your local area. If you are able to find the sponsors, we will deliver the boats immediately.
