The AYF High Performance Unit is seeking urgent expressions of interest from sailors wishing to compete in the keelboat classes at the 2002 ISAF World Sailing Games in France. The prestigious event, staged between Olympic years, will be held at historic Marseille from June 29 to July 11. However, nominations must be received by the AYF before January 31. The J22 has been named as the women’s keelboat, the J80 as the men's class, so it would suit competitors from the sportsboat, inshore keelboat and trailer sailer classes who are looking for high-level international sailing experience. Financial assistance will be provided by the AYF for the successful applicants. Australia is allowed two entrants per class. For the dinghies (Laser, Laser Radial, 470), catamaran (Hobie 16) and sailboard (BIC Formula Windsurfing) divisions, one selection will be made based on results from class national titles and, in the 470's case, Sail Melbourne regatta. The second nomination will be at the discretion of the AYF. A policy document outlining the selection and nomination guidelines for the event is on the AYF web site at www.yachting.org.au.
