London 2012 Olympic Games – Australian sailing preview – Day 11 – Wednesday 8 August

 
Nathan Outteridge and Iain Jensen will hit the water to add to Australia’s gold medal tally on Wednesday. The pair take an unassailable lead into the final 49er race, needing to just finish to claim the gold. Australia’s Women’s Match Racers are currently locked one-all in their quarterfinal with the Dutch with the semifinalists to be decided on Wednesday. Elise Rechichi and Belinda Stowell will be pushing hard to improve their in the 470 women’s fleet ahead of Friday’s medal race. Mathew Belcher and Malcolm Page have the day off before their medal race.

470 men – Mathew Belcher & Malcolm Page – 1/1 – 18 points – 1st overall
470 women – Elise Rechichi & Belinda Stowell – 9/14 – 63 points – 9th overall
Women’s Match Racing – Olivia Price, Nina Curtis & Lucinda Whitty – 1 all with the Netherlands in their quarterfinal

Nathan Outteridge and Iain Jensen have an unassailable 28 point lead ahead of the 49er medal race and need only contest the race to claim another Gold for Australia. While Outteridge has been to the Olympic Games before, finishing fifth in Beijing, London 2012 is Jensen’s first.
